Something New Is Folding Into Place…
If you’ve been following Hippo Carts for a while, you’ll know we’re big believers in one thing:
The people using our carts should help shape them.
And over the last few months, you’ve given us plenty to think about.
After showing our Folding Production Cart for film and TV crews at MPTS and speaking to existing Version 1 customers, we came back to the workshop with a list of feedback, ideas and those all-important “Wouldn’t it be good if…” conversations.
So, naturally, Alex got to work.
And something new is coming very soon. 👀
You asked for more flexibility
One of the biggest pieces of feedback was about working height.
A production cart isn’t necessarily used for one job all day. At one moment, you might be loading and unloading equipment. Later, that same cart could become your working deck.
Some crew wanted a lower height for seated working. Others wanted a comfortable standing-height workspace.
So why make you choose?
The updated Folding Cart is being developed with adjustable height, allowing you to change the setup depending on how you need to use the cart.
Load it. Work from it seated. Raise it and use it standing.
One cart. Different setups.
More ways to manage your cables
Another request was simple: more cable pass through options.
So we’ve added them.
The new design features cable pass through holes on both sides of the cart, giving you more freedom when setting up equipment and helping keep cables where you actually need them.
It might sound like a small detail.
But we know that on set, the small details can make a big difference.
Want to mount a monitor? Go for it.
This is one of the changes we’re particularly excited about.
We heard from customers who wanted an easier way to add things like monitor arms, brackets and other equipment to their cart.
We’ve therefore changed the aluminium extrusion used within the design to create a much more versatile mounting system.
Rather than deciding where you can and can’t mount something, the new extrusion allows accessories to be positioned anywhere along the mounting section.
Your monitor. Your accessories. Your setup.
Because your cart should adapt to your equipment, not the other way around.

We kept the bit you already loved
Not everything needed changing.
One feature that received really positive feedback was our simple folding mechanism.
So we haven’t reinvented it just for the sake of it.
Instead, Alex has been refining it.
Our new upright hinge has been engineered to make the movement even smoother, while retaining the simplicity that made the original Folding Cart so easy to set up.
Sometimes good product development isn’t about adding more.
It’s about making what already works even better.
And then there are the wheels…
The wheel attachment system was actually another part of the original Folding Cart that received really positive feedback.
It was already designed to be simple and quick to use.
So naturally, Alex decided to change it. 😂
Not because there was a problem to fix, but because our resident engineer (and self-confessed perfectionist) could see an opportunity to make an already good system even smoother and more refined.
The updated attachment is being developed to make removing and refitting the wheels feel even more effortless, while keeping the simplicity customers already liked.
It’s a pretty good example of how we approach product development at Hippo Carts:
If something needs improving, we improve it. And if something already works really well… Alex will probably still find a way to make it better.
Built from your feedback
This new version hasn’t been designed behind closed doors based on what we think crew want.
It’s being shaped by conversations with the people who actually use production carts.
Feedback from our existing customers. Conversations at MPTS. Questions we’ve been asked. Problems crew have told us about.
Then we bring all of that back to the workshop and work out how we can turn those conversations into practical engineering solutions.
That’s exactly how we want Hippo Carts to develop.
You tell us what would make your working day easier. We work out how to build it.
And importantly, we don’t change things just for the sake of calling something “new”.
If customers love a feature, we keep what makes it work. If they tell us something could make their lives easier, we listen. And if Alex spots an opportunity to refine something further… well, good luck stopping him.
Not long now… 👀
The next generation of our Folding Cart is taking shape in the workshop right now.
Adjustable working heights.
More cable management.
Greater mounting flexibility.
An even smoother folding mechanism.
And those perfectionist, approved wheel attachments.
We’re not quite ready to show you everything yet.
But we’re getting very close.
Keep an eye on Hippo Carts over the coming weeks for behind-the-scenes development, first looks and the full reveal of our updated Folding Cart.
